تؤكد التقارير العالمية لالعدد الكبير والإقبال المتسارع الذي يشهده تطبيق تويتر للبث المباشر Periscope، والذي أطلقته توتير في 26 مارس 2015 بعد الاستحواذ على الشركة المطورة له قبل تأسيسها في فبراير 2015.
ويقدم تطبيق Periscope إمكانية البث المباشر من أجهزة الهواتف الذكية، وكان بدايةً متوفر فقط لهواتف آيفون ليتم منذ حوالي أسبوع فقط توفيره أيضاً لأجهزة أندرويد.
وتشير الأرقام الحالية إلى تخطي تطبيق Periscope حاجز الـ 500 ألف تنزيل على أجهزة أندرويد خلال أسبوع واحد فقط، الأمر الذي يشير إلى مدى الإقبال الكبير الذي يحظى به التطبيق من قبل المستخدمين.
ومن المتوقع أيضاً أن يشهد التطبيق إقبالاً غير مسبوق في المنطقة العربية، خصوصاً في دول الخليج حيث يزدهر تويتر، وخصوصاً في السعودية والإمارات والكويت والبحرين إضافة إلى الأردن.
إلا أن ثمة مخاوف حقيقة لدى المستخدمين في المنطقة من قيام شركات الاتصالات في الدول العربية بحجب التطبيق، لاسيما وأن لها تاريخ طويل وسجل حافل بمثل هذه الممارسات، والتي كان آخرها حجب مكالمات واتس اب.
تجدر الإشارة إلى أن تطبيق Periscope يقدم إمكانية إجراء بث مباشر (خاص) أو عام (مفتوح)، ويمكن تنزيله على أجهزة أندرويد و iOS.
